What You Will Do
We will begin the day with an optional 5-minute mindfulness exercise.
We will then explore atmospheric perspective to create a softly layered, misty landscape.
Starting with some useful exercises based on the fundamental techniques of successful watercolour painting, such as brush stroke techniques, these will then be applied to create a stylised landscape.
We will be combining watercolour and gouache in order to play with transparency and opacity whilst painting. Even if you’re familiar with using watercolour paints, you might enjoy combining watercolours with white gouache for a different effect.
No Experience Necessary
This course is suitable for all levels of art experience, whether you are new to watercolour and gouache painting or are experienced and just want to hone your skills.
Caroline will demonstrate techniques for you to practice before you begin the major artwork for the day
Caroline and Emma will be on-hand throughout the day, to offer support and advice.
You will also be given high-quality step-by-step handouts, allowing you to revisit what you learnt during the course.
Creative Processes
We will be taking inspiration from one of Caroline’s archived free weekly sheets for our colour palette. After the course, you are welcome to join our free community Creative Space, to post future work using what you’ve learnt on the course for ongoing feedback.
Within the Creative Space group, you can find a bank of archived art prompt sheets, which are the same sheets that we’ll use in the course.
During the course, art materials will be provided, including top-quality paints and the highest-quality watercolour paper. You’re also welcome to bring your own materials if you prefer.
